Child Safety Standards Policy
Paints is an adults-only community. We have a zero-tolerance policy for the sexualisation, abuse, exploitation, or endangerment of children, and for any content depicting or facilitating these harms. This policy describes how we keep children safe on and around the Paints Service, and how we respond when a concern is raised.
1. Who Paints is for
Paints membership and the Paints Service are available only to people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly allow under-18s to create accounts, attend Paints events, or use any other part of the Service. If you believe an under-18 has created an account or is using the Service, please contact us at safety@paints.app immediately and we will investigate and remove their access.
2. Age verification
Account creation requires a confirmed date of birth. We may ask any member to verify their age and identity with photo ID at any time, including during onboarding, before a first event, or after a report. Members who refuse age verification or whose documentation indicates they are under 18 will be removed.
3. Prohibited content and behaviour
The following are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account removal and, where applicable, reporting to law enforcement:
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) in any form — images, video, drawings, generated imagery, written content, or links.
- Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) — including grooming, sexual extortion of a minor, solicitation, and trafficking.
- Any content or behaviour that sexualises a minor or facilitates their abuse.
- Attempting to make contact with a minor through Paints, or arranging to meet a minor through Paints.
- Sharing personal information about a minor without parental or guardian consent.
4. Reporting
Report any child safety concern immediately:
- In-app: Use the Report feature on any profile, message, or event.
- Email: safety@paints.app
- Emergency: If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. In the UK, dial 999.
UK members can also report directly to:
- Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) — for CSAM online: iwf.org.uk
- CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Command), part of the National Crime Agency: ceop.police.uk
- NSPCC — 0808 800 5000 or nspcc.org.uk
Members in the United States can report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) at cybertipline.org.
5. How we respond
When Paints becomes aware of CSAM or CSAE on or through the Service we:
- Remove the content immediately.
- Preserve evidence securely for law enforcement.
- Suspend or terminate the responsible account.
- Report the matter to the appropriate authority — IWF and CEOP for UK matters, NCMEC for matters connected to the US, and any other competent local authority where relevant.
- Cooperate fully with any subsequent investigation.
6. Our Child Safety Officer
Paints has a designated Child Safety Officer responsible for overseeing this policy, coordinating investigations, and acting as the point of contact for law enforcement. The Child Safety Officer can be reached at safety@paints.app.
7. Training and review
The Child Safety Officer reviews this policy at least annually. Paints staff who interact with member data or member reports receive training on identifying, escalating, and reporting child safety concerns.
8. Compliance
Paints complies with the UK Online Safety Act 2023, the UK General Data Protection Regulation, Apple App Store and Google Play child safety policies, and applicable international child protection laws.
